Few weeks ago I bought a new 70-300mm Canon L lens and I have been itching to get out and try it. This weekend I decided to head to Juanita Bay Park in Kirkland to try out the lens. I had been there before and I knew there are always some little critters, turtles, ducks and some other birds come and spend the sunset so I went hoping to find some.
The park has two bird watching lookouts, I made my way to the end of that dock and pulled out my camera looking for something to shoot. Not even a minute after i got set up this beautiful blue heron just landed in front of me and simply posed for me for the next half hour or so, as in the photography gods had smiled on me and sent me this bird as a subject. I have been there a few times since and every time it has had some interesting surprises for me. Bald eagles, herons, geese, white geese and all sort of other birds tend to show up there around sunset, so if you go bring your telephoto, your tripod and enjoy what the park will throw at you.
